Why are there regions on Birda?
On Birda, your region setting defines what posts you see in the app's Community feed. For example, if your region is set to Europe, your feed will show posts of sightings and sessions from people in your region as well as posts from users you follow (irrespective of their region).
Regions are also used to populate the species lists you see when adding a sighting on Birda. The first section of Birda's species list only contains species that have been previously seen within about 65km of the location of the sighting you are posting. The second 'Less Likely' section of Birda's species lists contains species that have previously been seen in the sighting region but not seen in the general location of the sighting you are posting.
